Big Love Football Mentoring

At Big Love, we believe football is more than just a game—it’s a powerful tool for growth and connection. Each week, we work with over 35 boys, including those facing behavioural challenges or at risk of expulsion, using football to teach essential life skills and foster positive character development. Coaching kids isn’t just about teaching them skills; it’s about instilling values like teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Through our sessions, each boy is constantly reminded of their worth and value and that we are here to champion and support them. They learn about kindness, respect, and valuing others, both on and off the field, discovering that true strength comes from teamwork, resilience, and compassion. By instilling these values, we aim to equip young people with skills that extend far beyond the pitch, helping them build a foundation for life.

We also run football and business-focused sessions at Thriftwood College in Chelmsford, supporting students with moderate learning difficulties. These sessions provide a unique blend of sports and practical skills, designed to empower students with confidence and a sense of accomplishment.

Thursday Community Football

Our Thursday evening football sessions are all about creating a space where community thrives. Open to adults from all backgrounds, this weekly session invites people to come together, get active, and enjoy an hour of football in a friendly, welcoming environment. It’s more than just a game; it’s an opportunity to connect, build friendships, and share in the Big Love spirit. Sessions run from 7:30 to 8:30 pm during term time, with a termly fee of £30 or £5 per session. Join us every Thursday and help strengthen community ties, one game at a time.

How You Can Get Involved

Whether you’re passionate about mentoring or just love the game, there are many ways to be part of Big Love Football. Volunteer as a coach, mentor a young person, or join us on Thursday evenings from 7:30–8:30 pm. For our work with kids, we have a strict safeguarding policy, and all volunteers are DBS checked. If volunteering isn’t possible, consider sponsoring a session or providing equipment—every bit helps. Get in touch to find out how you can make a difference!
