Football: mentoring on and off the pitch
Every week, our coaches spend time with more than 50 students through football sessions in secondary schools. It's about more than the game: students are taught life skills through football, encouraged to lead, work as a team, and show empathy and encouragement toward each other, skills they then carry into other parts of their lives. Once trust and consistency are built, we've seen these students grow in ways that go far beyond the pitch.
At Thriftwood College, Chelmsford, we run specialist sessions for children with moderate learning difficulties, using that same approach: football as a way to build trust, confidence and connection.
